舉：「僧問翠微：『自到和尚法席，每沐上堂，不蒙一法示誨，意在於何？』微云：『嫌箇什麼？』僧復問洞山，山云：『爭怪得老僧。』後有僧問法眼，眼云：『祖師來也。』」師云：「兩箇老漢，被者僧穿却；唯有法眼，與他同參。若是雪竇門下，喫棒了赶出。」

He brought up: "A monk asked Cuiwei: 'Ever since arriving at the Venerable's Dharma seat, whenever I am bathed in your ascending the hall, I have not received the instruction of a single dharma; what is the intention in this?' Cuiwei said: 'What are you dissatisfied with?' The monk then asked Dongshan, and Dongshan said: 'How could you blame this old monk?' Later a monk asked Fayan, and Fayan said: 'The patriarch has arrived.'" The Master said: "Those two old fellows were pierced through by this monk; only Fayan participated together with him. If it were under Xuedou's gate, after receiving a beating with the stick, he would be driven out."
