舉：「趙州問僧：『甚處來？』云：『雪峯來。』州云：『雪峯近日有何言句示徒？』僧云：『雪峯道：「盡大地是沙門一隻眼，爾諸人向什麼處屙？」』州云：『爾若過嶺，我附箇鍬子去。』」師云：「者僧既不從雪峯來，可惜趙州鍬子。」

He brought up: "Zhaozhou asked a monk: 'Where do you come from?' The monk said: 'I come from Xuefeng.' Zhaozhou said: 'What words has Xuefeng recently given to instruct his disciples?' The monk said: 'Xuefeng said: "The entire great earth is a single eye of a śramaṇa; where do you all go to defecate?"' Zhaozhou said: 'If you go across the ridge, I will send along a shovel.'" The Master said: "Since this monk did not come from Xuefeng, it's a pity about Zhaozhou's shovel."
