上堂，僧問：「雪覆蘆華時如何？」師云：「點。」僧云：「恁麼則為祥為瑞也。」師云：「兩重公案，復成一頌。雪覆蘆華欲暮天，謝家人不在魚船，白牛放却無尋處，空把山童贈鐵鞭。」

Ascending the hall, a monk asked: "How is it when snow covers the reed blossoms?" The Master said: "Spotted." The monk said: "If so, then it is an auspicious sign and omen." The Master said: "A double public case; I make another verse for it: / Snow covers the reed blossoms as the day draws toward evening; / The person of the Xie family is not in the fishing boat. / The white ox is let go with nowhere to seek it; / In vain the mountain boy is presented with an iron whip."
