2.8

舉：「乾峯和尚云：『舉一不得舉二，放過一著落在第二。』雲門出眾云：『昨日有人從天台來，却往南嶽去。』峯下座云：『大眾！來日不要普請。』」師云：「看他作者吐露箇消息，宛爾不同，若是瞌睡漢，遞相鈍致。」乃拈起拄杖云：「放過一著。」便下座。

He raised: "Upādhyāya Qianfeng said, 'When one is raised, do not raise two; letting off one move, one falls into the second.' Yunmen came out from the assembly and said, 'Yesterday someone came from Tiantai and went instead toward Nanyue.' Feng descended from the seat and said, 'Great assembly! Tomorrow there is no need for communal labor.'" The Master said, "Look at those adept masters revealing a message—it is distinctly different. If they were sleepy fellows, they would mutually blunt and bungle it." He then took up his staff and said, "Letting you off for one move." He then descended from the seat.
