舉：「臨濟侍立德山，山云：『今日困。』濟云：『者老漢寱語作什麼？』山便打，濟掀倒繩床，山便休。」師云：「二員作者，具啐啄同時眼，有啐啄同時用。雪竇擬向猛虎口中奪鹿，饑鷹爪下分兔，敢謂臨濟、德山二俱瞎漢。有人辯得，天下橫行。」

He raised: "Linji was standing in attendance beside Deshan. Shan said, 'Today I am tired.' Ji said, 'What is this old fellow talking in his sleep for?' Shan immediately struck him. Ji overturned the rope-chair; Shan then stopped." The Master said, "Two adept masters, endowed with the eye of pecking and tapping simultaneously, possessing the functioning of pecking and tapping simultaneously. Xuedou intends to snatch the deer from the fierce tiger's mouth and divide the rabbit under the hungry falcon's talons, daring to declare that Linji and Deshan are both blind fellows. If someone can discern this, he may stride freely across the world."
