3.39

舉：「鏡清問僧：『趙州喫茶去，爾作麼生會？』僧便出去，清云：『邯鄲學步。』」師云：「者僧不是邯鄲人，為什麼學唐步？若辯得出，與爾茶喫。」

He cited: "Jingqing asked a monk, 'Zhaozhou said, "Go drink tea"—how do you understand it?' The monk immediately walked out. Qing said, 'Learning to walk like someone in Handan.'" The Master said, "This monk was not a person of Handan; why did he learn the gait of Tang? If you can discern this, I will give you tea to drink."
