3.40

舉：「僧問雲門：『如何是法身向上事？』云：『向上與爾道即不難，作麼生會法身？』僧云：『請和尚鑑。』云：『鑑即且致，作麼生會法身？』僧云：『與麼與麼？』云：『者箇是長連床上學得底。我且問爾法身還喫飯麼？』僧無語。」師云：「將成九仞之山，不進一簣之土，過在什麼處？」

He cited: "A monk asked Yunmen, 'What is the matter beyond the dharmakāya?' [Yunmen] said, 'To speak to you of what is beyond is not difficult, but how do you understand the dharmakāya?' The monk said, 'Please, upādhyāya, examine it.' [Yunmen] said, 'Setting aside examination, how do you understand the dharmakāya?' The monk said, 'Like this, like this?' [Yunmen] said, 'This is what you learned on the long continuous platform beds. Let me ask you: does the dharmakāya still eat food?' The monk had no words." The Master said, "About to complete a nine-fathom mountain, yet not adding the last basket of earth—where is the fault?"
