4.69

一日遊園次，問僧：「苦瓠連根苦，甜瓜徹蒂甜，明得箇什麼邊事？」僧無對，代云：「平出。」

One day, while strolling in the garden, he asked a monk: "The bitter calabash is bitter right down to its root; the sweet melon is sweet through to its stem. What aspect of the matter does this clarify?" The monk had no reply. On [his] behalf he said: "Coming out even."
