上堂云：「月生一，室生白，月生二，產靈異，月生三，萬回憨，格外無蹤跡，風前強指南，頭頭無向背，一一絕廉纖，拈華特地生風草，令人長笑老瞿曇。」

Ascending the hall, the Master said: "The moon appears on the first, the room produces white light; the moon appears on the second, an extraordinary spirit is born; the moon appears on the third, Wanhu's silliness. Outside the patterns there are no traces; before the wind, pointing south is forced. Everything without facing towards or turning away, each and every thing free of the slightest hair. Twirling a flower intentionally stirs the wind and grass, causing people to laugh long at old Gautama."
