雲門大師云：「聞聲悟道，見色明心，作麼生是聞聲悟道、見色明心？」乃云：「觀世音菩薩將錢來買餬餅。放下手云：『元來只是饅頭。』」頌云：
Great Master Yunmen said, 'Hearing sounds awakens one to the Way; seeing forms clarifies the mind. What is hearing sounds awakening to the Way and seeing forms clarifying the mind?' He then said, 'Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva brings coins to buy sesame flatbreads. Lowering his hands, he says, "Turns out they're just steamed buns!"' A verse says:
