舉：「古云：『聞聲悟道見色明心。』」師云：「作麼生是聞聲悟道見色明心？」乃云：「觀世音菩薩將錢來買餬餅，放下手云：『元來秖是饅頭。』」

He cited: "An ancient said, 'Hearing sounds one awakens to the Way; seeing forms one clarifies the mind.'" The Master said: "What is hearing sounds and awakening to the Way, seeing forms and clarifying the mind?" He then said: "Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara brings money to buy a sesame cake; putting down her hands, she says, 'Originally it was just a steamed bun.'"
