師云。天童舉話談其神駿。略其玄黃。本錄。雲門示眾云。聞聲悟道。見色明心。作麼生。是聞聲悟道。見色明心。舉手云。觀世音菩薩將錢來買餬餅。放下手。元來却是饅頭。圓通國師道。韶陽老人。可謂唱彌高而和彌寡。如今却向延聖拂子頭上。入方網三昧。東方入定西方起。乃至男身入定女身起。還會麼。野色更無山隔斷。月光直與水相通。萬松道。海中尋不得。岸上却相逢。更看。天童甚處相見。頌云。

The Master said: Tiantong, in raising this case, spoke of its divine steed-like spirit and omitted its black and yellow colors. In the original record: Yunmen instructed the assembly, saying, "Hearing sounds, one awakens to the Way; seeing forms, one clarifies the mind. What is it like to awaken to the Way upon hearing sounds and clarify the mind upon seeing forms?" He raised his hand and said, "Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva brings money to buy a sesame cake; putting down the hand, it turns out to be a steamed bun." National Teacher Yuantong said, "Old Man Shaoyang can truly be said to sing so high that few could join the chorus. Now, upon the tip of the whisk of Yansheng, he enters the samādhi of the net of directions: entering samādhi in the east, he arises in the west; up to entering samādhi in a male body, he arises in a female body. Do you understand? The scenery of the wild is not cut off by mountains; moonlight merges directly with the water." Wansong says: Seeking it in the ocean, it cannot be found; on the shore, one meets it face to face. Look further to see where Tiantong meets him. The verse says:
