3.36

上堂，舉：「僧問臨濟：『如何是三眼國土？』濟云：『我共汝入淨妙國土中，著清淨衣說法身佛，又入無差別國土中，著無差別衣說報身佛，又入解脫國土中，著光明衣說化身佛。』」師顧視大眾云：「還見臨濟老漢麼？若也未見，徑山為爾指出。法身、報身、化身，咄哉魍魎妖精，三眼國中逢著，笑殺無位真人。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "A monk asked Linji, 'What is the realm of the three eyes?' Linji said, 'I enter with you into the pure and wondrous realm, wear the robe of purity, and speak of the dharmakāya Buddha; again, I enter into the realm of non-differentiation, wear the robe of non-differentiation, and speak of the sambhogakāya Buddha; again, I enter into the realm of liberation, wear the robe of radiance, and speak of the nirmāṇakāya Buddha.'" The Master looked around at the assembly and said: "Do you still see old man Linji? If you still do not see him, Jingshan will point him out for you. Dharmakāya, sambhogakāya, nirmāṇakāya—bah! You mountain specters and monster spirits! Encountering them in the realm of the three eyes causes the true person of no rank to laugh himself to death."
