3.37

上堂，舉：「鎮府大王問趙州：『和尚年尊，有幾箇牙齒在？』州云：『只有一箇。』王云：『爭喫得物？』州云：『雖然一箇，下下咬著。』」師喝一喝云：「少賣弄。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "The Grand Prince of the Prefecture of Zhen asked Zhaozhou, 'The Venerable is advanced in years; how many teeth do you have left?' Zhaozhou said, 'There is only one.' The Prince said, 'How can you eat things?' Zhaozhou said, 'Although there is only one, it bites down every single time.'" The Master gave a shout and said: "A petty display!"
