示眾，拈拄杖卓一下云：「細不通風，大通車馬，突出當陽，孰辨真假？虛空有杷柄，無手人能把，跛驢蹋倒摘茶輪，草菴卸下瑠璃瓦。」又卓一下。

Instructing the assembly, [the Master] took up his staff, struck once, and said: "Too fine to let wind pass, wide enough to let carts and horses through. Projecting out directly into the sunlight, who can distinguish the real from the false? Empty space has a handle, which a handless person can grasp. A lame donkey kicks over the tea-picking wheel; a thatched hut takes down lapis lazuli tiles." He struck once again.
