9.24

僧請益夾山境話，道聲未了，師便喝，僧茫然，師云：「爾問甚麼？」僧擬舉，師連打喝出。

A monk asked for further instruction regarding the case of Jiashan's environment. Before the sound of his words had ended, the Master shouted. The monk was at a loss. The Master said, "What were you asking?" The monk prepared to bring it up again; the Master gave him repeated blows, shouted, and drove him out.
