Ascending the hall, [the Master] said: "'When the Buddha's children dwell on this ground, it is indeed the Buddha's enjoyment; always within it, walking, sitting, and reclining.'" Striking the meditation couch with his fly-whisk, he said: "The all-encompassing wisdom penetrates without obstruction: Old Śākya has arrived! He says that yesterday someone came from Mount Lu and nevertheless obtained news of Jiangxi; the bowl's mouth faces heaven, the lantern hangs on the open pillar, and from all four directions and eight quarters they come all at once—truly there is no place for you to evade them! Since there is no place to evade, how then will you negotiate it? Do you understand? 'Intertwined, they interact; otherwise, they abide in their places.'"
