五祖一日，問圓悟無縫塔話，悟罔然，直從方丈隨至三門方道得，祖云：「爾道得也。」悟云：「不然，暫時不在，便不堪也。」

One day Wuzu asked Yuanwu about the topic of the seamless stupa. Yuanwu was at a loss; he followed straight from the abbot's quarters to the triple gate before he was able to say something. Wuzu said, "You have managed to say it." Yuanwu said, "Not so; if for a moment one is absent, it is useless."
