判府安撫徽猷度疏，師接乃云：「窮諸玄辯，若一毫置於太虛；竭世樞機，到底不離於正念。」復呈起疏召大眾云：「正念生也。且道其中事作麼生？却煩表白宣讀。」陞座，拈香云：「此一瓣香，恭為祝延今上皇帝聖躬萬歲萬歲萬萬歲。皇帝陛下，恭願聖明御極，膺萬國之丕圖；賢哲佐時，協千齡之慶會。此一瓣香，恭為祝延光堯壽聖憲天體道性仁誠德經武緯文太上皇帝聖躬萬歲萬歲萬萬歲。恭願堯仁廣被、舜德彌新，億萬斯年永隆睿算。此一瓣香，恭為壽聖齊明廣慈太上皇后、中宮皇后、皇太子、皇孫兩宮天眷莊嚴福算，恭願壽山增峻、福海彌深，同明般若正因，共植金剛種智。此一瓣香，奉為參政相公、參政相公、樞密相公、樞密相公、判部尚書、判部侍郎、侍郎、中書舍人、舍人、捧香天使、都知太尉、御帶太尉，諸位勳貴、判府安撫徽猷都運敷文、文武百僚同資祿算。此一瓣香，爇向爐中，奉為前住明州天童山景德禪寺第十八代應庵大和尚，用酬法乳之恩。」乃就座。靈隱佛照禪師白槌云：「法筵龍象眾，當觀第一義。」師云：「正令已行，千差削迹，佛佛從茲授手，祖祖於是相傳。恁麼會得，便乃高揖釋迦不拜彌勒；其或尚留觀聽，何妨致問？」

The Prefect, Pacification Commissioner, and Scholar of the Huiyou Pavilion presented the proclamation. The Master received it and said: "Exhausting all mysterious dialectics is like placing a single hair in great space; running through the world's crucial mechanisms ultimately does not depart from right mindfulness." Again he held up the proclamation, addressed the assembly, and said: "Right mindfulness has arisen! And tell me, what about the matter therein? Yet I trouble the cantor to announce and read it aloud." Ascending the seat, he held up incense and said: "This pellet of incense is reverently offered to pray for the longevity of the present Emperor's sacred person: ten thousand years, ten thousand years, ten thousand times ten thousand years! Reverently wishing that His Sacred Brilliance occupies the throne, receiving the grand design of the myriad realms, and that worthy sages assist the times, according with the celebratory gathering of a thousand ages. This pellet of incense is reverently offered to pray for the longevity of the Retired Emperor—Guangyao Shousheng Xiantian Tidao Xingren Chengde Jingwu Weiwen—for his sacred person: ten thousand years, ten thousand years, ten thousand times ten thousand years! Reverently wishing that the benevolence of Yao extends far and wide, the virtue of Shun is ever renewed, and his sagacious calculation will forever flourish for hundreds of millions of years. This pellet of incense is reverently offered to adorn the fortune and lifespan of the Retired Empress Shousheng Qiming Guangci, the Empress of the Central Palace, the Crown Prince, and the Imperial Grandsons—the heavenly relatives of the two palaces. Reverently wishing that the mountain of longevity increases in height, the ocean of fortune deepens evermore, together illuminating the right cause of prajñā, and mutually planting the vajra seed-wisdom. This pellet of incense is dedicated to the Assistant Directors of the Department of State Affairs, the Assistant Directors of the Department of State Affairs, the Directors of the Bureau of Military Affairs, the Directors of the Bureau of Military Affairs, the Ministers Administering Ministries, the Vice Ministers Administering Ministries, the Vice Ministers, the Secretariat Drafters, the Drafters, the Imperial Envoys Bearing Incense, the Grand Marshals of General Command, the Grand Marshals of the Imperial Girdle, all esteemed nobility, the Prefect, Pacification Commissioner, and Scholar of the Huiyou Pavilion, the Transport Commissioner and Auxiliary Scholar of the Fuwen Pavilion, and all the civil and military officials, together aiding their fortunes and lifespans. This pellet of incense is burned in the censer, offered for the former abbot of the Jingde Chan Monastery on Mount Tiantong in Mingzhou, the eighteenth generation, the great Venerable Ying'an, to requite the kindness of his dharma milk." Then he took his seat. Chan Master Fozhao of Lingyin struck the gavel and said: "Assembly of dragons and elephants at the dharma banquet, you should contemplate the primary meaning." The Master said: "The correct decree has already been executed, the thousand differences have erased their traces; buddha after buddha have extended their hands from this, and patriarch after patriarch have transmitted it from here. If you understand it like this, you then make a high bow to Śākya and do not prostrate to Maitreya. If anyone still remains in looking and listening, what harm is there in asking?"
