上堂：「知幻即離，不作方便。」以拂子左邊擊一下云：「向遮裏薦取。離幻即覺，亦無漸次。」以拂子右邊擊一下云：「向遮裏薦取。一人發真歸元，十方虛空悉皆消殞。」以拂子中間劃一劃云：「向遮裏薦取。烏巨葛藤盡被諸人覷破了也，諸人鼻孔眼睛被烏巨拂子穿却，因什麼不覺不知？其間或有一箇半箇驀地知非，黑漆拄杖未放過在。何故？曹溪波浪如相似，無限平人被陸沈。」

Ascending the hall: "'Knowing illusions, immediately leave them, without adopting expedient means.'" Striking once on the left side with his whisk, he said: "Grasp it here! 'Leaving illusions, immediately be awakened, likewise without gradual stages.'" Striking once on the right side with his whisk, he said: "Grasp it here! 'When a single person realizes truth and returns to the origin, space in the ten directions completely dissolves away.'" Drawing a line in the middle with his whisk, he said: "Grasp it here! Wuju's entanglements have all been seen through by you all. Your nostrils and eyes have been pierced through by Wuju's whisk—why are you neither conscious nor aware of it? If among you there is one or half a person who suddenly realizes his mistake, the black lacquered staff will not yet let him off. Why so? 'If Caoxi's waves are just like this, countless ordinary people will drown on dry land.'"
