1.22

上堂，舉：「僧問雲門：『久雨不晴時如何？』雲門對道：『劄。』」師云：「大眾！雲門一劄，乾匌匼匝，海水騰波，須彌岌嶪。」驀拈拄杖卓一卓云：「雲門大師向遮裏無出氣處，且道烏巨活人眼在什麼處？」復卓拄杖云：「乃雨忽晴，天清地寧，寒山撫掌，拾得忻忻。恁麼會得，旱地遭釘。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "A monk asked Yunmen, 'When it rains for a long time and does not clear, how is it?' Yunmen answered, 'Zha!'" The master said, "Great assembly! Yunmen's single 'Zha' encompasses all, ocean waves surge, and Sumeru totters." Suddenly taking up his staff and striking it once, he said, "Great Master Yunmen has no place to catch his breath here. Tell me, where is Wuju's eye that brings people to life?" Striking the staff again, he said, "The rain suddenly clears, heaven is clear and earth is tranquil; Hanshan claps his hands, and Shide is delighted. If you understand it like this, you have stepped on a nail on dry land."
