國清直庵和尚到，上堂：「雲開千嶂出，木落一枝分，相見又無事，不來還憶君。」敘謝畢。復舉：「芙蓉和尚一日訪實性大師，大師陞座，以右手拈拄杖倚左邊云：『此事若不是芙蓉師兄，大難委悉。』」師召大眾云：「實性大師弄巧成拙，鈍置他芙蓉師兄。今日國清師兄到來，烏巨也不拈拄杖，亦不與麼道。且道與古人是同是別？」良久云：「相逢自有知音知，何必清風動天地？」

When Venerable Zhi'an of Guoqing arrived, [the master] ascended the hall: "The clouds part and a thousand peaks emerge; leaves fall and a single branch divides. Meeting each other, there is nothing to do; when you do not come, I still remember you." Having completed expressions of thanks, he further cited: "One day Furong visited Great Master Shixing. The Great Master ascended the seat, took his staff with his right hand, leaned it on the left side, and said, 'If it were not for Senior Brother Furong, this matter would be exceedingly difficult to understand.'" The master called to the assembly and said, "Great Master Shixing tried to be clever only to make a blunder, putting his senior brother Furong in an awkward spot. Today Senior Brother Guoqing has arrived, and Wuju neither takes up the staff nor speaks like that. Tell me, is this the same as or different from the ancient?" After a long pause, he said, "When meeting, those who understand the tone know of themselves; what need for a pure breeze to stir heaven and earth?"
