謝知事頭首，上堂：「一新一舊跳出窠舊；一出一入胡餅裏呷汁；一擒一縱開眼作夢；一照一用鱔魚走入麻油甕。所以道：『若論此事直須揮劍，若不揮劍漁父捿巢。』古人與麼，大似將錢買李子，只從赤邊咬。且道結角在什麼處？」驀拈拄杖卓一卓，下座。

Thanking the monastic officers and senior leaders, he ascended the hall: "One new and one old leaps out of the old nest; one out and one in is slurping broth in a sesame cake; one seizing and one releasing is dreaming with eyes open; one illuminating and one functioning is an eel slithering into a sesame oil jar. Therefore it is said: 'If you discuss this matter, you must directly brandish the sword; if you do not brandish the sword, the fisherman nests in a tree.' The ancients being like this is much like buying plums with money and biting only into the red side. Tell me, where does the final knot lie?"
