1.90

上堂，舉：「僧問巖頭：『路逢猛虎時如何？』頭云：『拶。』」師云：「巖頭具殺人不眨眼底手段，被遮僧一問，却向射垛後嚲避。若也檢點得出，雖是善因，而招惡果。」

Ascending the hall, he brought up [the following]: “A monk asked Yantou, ‘What happens when one encounters a fierce tiger on the road?’ Yantou said, ‘Press!’” The Master said, “Yantou possessed the technique of killing a person without blinking an eye, yet when asked by this monk, he dodged behind the target mound. If you can scrutinize this, although it is a good cause, it invites a bad fruit.”
