上堂，舉：「夾山示眾：『若論此事，直須揮劍，若不揮劍，漁父棲巢。』」師云：「夾山未得與物俱化，致令影草之流認驢作馬。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "Jiashan instructed the assembly: 'If one discusses this matter, one must wield the sword directly; if one does not wield the sword, the fisherman roosts in a bird's nest.'"
The master said, "Jiashan had not yet attained transformation along with things, thus causing those of the 'shadowing grass' sort to mistake a donkey for a horse."
