上堂，舉：「烏臼因玄紹二上座來參，臼問：『近離甚處？』僧云：『江西。』臼便打，僧云：『也知和尚有此機要。』臼云：『爾既不會，第二禪客近前來。』僧擬議，臼亦打。」師云：「二僧見烏臼，如登龍門。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "Wujiu, because the two elders Xuan and Shao came to call, asked: 'Where did you depart from recently?' The monk said, 'Jiangxi.' Wujiu immediately struck him. The monk said, 'I knew all along that the upādhyāya had this pivotal mechanism.' Wujiu said, 'Since you do not understand, let the second Chan guest step forward.' The monk hesitated, and Wujiu also struck him." The master said, "For the two monks to see Wujiu was like ascending the Dragon Gate."
