上堂，僧問：「熱時寒向甚麼處去？」師云：「爾抓著我痒處。」僧云：「寒時熱向甚麼處去？」師云：「乾籬頭上，覓甚麼汁？」僧云：「不涉寒暑底人，在甚麼處？」師云：「鬧市裏尋取。」僧云：「尋得後如何？」師云：「出三界二十五有。」僧云：「也未是極則。」師云：「作麼生是極則？」僧便喝，師云：「也未是極則。」

Ascending the hall, a monk asked, "When it is hot, where does the cold go?" The master said, "You have scratched my itch." The monk said, "When it is cold, where does the heat go?" The master said, "On top of a dry hedge, what juice are you seeking?" The monk said, "Where is the person who is not involved in cold and heat?" The master said, "Look for him in the bustling market." The monk said, "After finding him, how is it?" The master said, "Transcending the three realms and the twenty-five states of existence." The monk said, "That is still not the ultimate principle." The master said, "What is the ultimate principle?" The monk shouted. The master said, "That is still not the ultimate principle."
