2.50

復舉：「首山示眾：『咄哉巧女兒，攛梭不解織，看他鬪鷄人，水牛也不識。咄哉拙郎君，巧妙無人識，打破鳳林關，著靴水上立。』」師云：「首山自謂得臨際正傳，却作野犴鳴，致令天下兒孫，箇箇拖泥帶水。」

He again cited: "Shoushan instructed the assembly: 'Bah! Clever daughter, casting the shuttle yet not knowing how to weave! Look at that cock-fighter—he doesn't even recognize a water buffalo. Bah! Clumsy young gentleman, his ingenuity unrecognized by anyone; he smashes the Fenglin Pass and stands upon the water wearing boots.'"
The master said, "Shoushan claimed to have the authentic transmission of Linji, yet he made the cry of a wild fox, causing sons and grandsons throughout the world to drag through mud and drip with water, every single one."
