慈雲和尚至，上堂，僧問：「路逢道伴交肩過，一生參學事畢時如何？」師云：「鵓鳩樹上啼。」僧云：「也恐和尚見古人未盡。」師云：「同道方知。」僧云：「知後如何？」師云：「布袋盛錐，快者先出。」

When Upādhyāya Ciyun arrived, ascending the hall, a monk asked: "'Meeting a companion on the path and brushing shoulders as they pass, the affair of a lifetime's investigation and study is finished.' What about then?" The master said: "A turtle dove cries in the tree." The monk said: "I fear the upādhyāya has not fully seen the ancients." The master said: "Only one on the same path knows." The monk said: "What after knowing?" The master said: "When an awl is kept in a cloth bag, the sharp one emerges first."
