3.125

上堂：「佛法在正，不在乎盛，在正則鬼神莫測其由，在盛則鬼神能妬其福。五峯固是不屬其間，因甚終日區區地？」擊拂子：「霜葦岸頭雙屬玉，一聲清響忽驚飛。」

Ascending the hall: "The Buddha Dharma lies in rectitude, not in flourishing. In rectitude, ghosts and spirits cannot fathom its cause; in flourishing, ghosts and spirits can envy its fortune. The Five Peaks certainly do not belong among them; why then are they toiling diligently all day long?" Striking his whisk, he said: "A pair of egrets on the frosty reed-lined bank; / at a single clear sound, they are suddenly startled into flight."
