白雲端和尚云：「此事如萬仞崖頭相似，總知道放著手便撲到底，只是捨命不得。法華今日，不動一毫頭，教諸人到底去也。」擲下主丈。
Upādhyāya Duan of Baiyun said: "This matter is like the edge of a myriad-fathom cliff: everyone knows that if they let go of their hands they will crash to the bottom, yet they simply cannot give up their lives. Today Fahua, without moving a single hair-tip, causes everyone to go all the way to the bottom!" He threw down his staff.
