佛生日上堂：「二月十五入寂，四月八日復生，虛空開笑口，大地絕人行。恁麼會得，何用九龍吐水，灌沐金軀。其或未然。」擊拂子云：「人在畫樓沽酒處，相邀來喫趙州茶。」

Ascending the hall on the Buddha's birthday: "Entering stillness on the fifteenth day of the second month, reborn on the eighth day of the fourth month. Empty space opens its smiling mouth; on the great earth human traffic ceases. If you understand like this, what need is there for nine dragons to spit water to bathe the golden body?
