上堂，舉：「松源師祖臨示寂告眾云：『久參兄弟，正路上行者，有只不能用黑豆法，臨濟之道，將泯絕無聞。傷哉。』」拈云：「鷲峯老子，大似倚杖騎馬，雖無僵仆之患，未免傍觀者醜。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "When Master Ancestor Songyuan was approaching his demise, he addressed the assembly, saying: 'Among the brethren of long practice, there are those walking on the true path who only cannot use the black bean method; the way of Linji is about to perish and be heard no more. How lamentable!'" He brought this up and said, "The old fellow of Eagle Peak is much like leaning on a staff while riding a horse: although there is no danger of falling flat, he cannot avoid appearing unsightly to onlookers."
