9.86

上堂：「未舉先知，未話先領，南天台北五臺則可，若更說九疑泰華相高有殊，則未可也。衲僧家，朝山暮水，滿眼塞耳，覓什麼佛法玄妙？不然，朝茅暮茅，喜怒在爾。」

Ascending the hall: "Knowing before it is raised, comprehending before it is spoken—it is permissible for southern Tiantai and northern Wutai; but if you go on to say that Jiuyi and Taihua differ in height, then it is not permissible. You patch-robed monks, facing mountains in the morning and waters in the evening, with eyes filled and ears stuffed, what marvelous mystery of the Buddha-Dharma are you looking for? Otherwise, morning thatch and evening thatch, joy and anger depend on you."
