9.91

復舉：「玉泉皓和尚示眾：『仲冬嚴寒，布裩赫赤，不是不洗，無得替換。』」拈云：「皓布裩久貧乍富，向蟭螟眼裏開張世界，出來三叉路口大叫一聲道，土曠人稀，相逢者少。會得笑領取去；不然，來夜請首座為諸人品題。」

He brought up again: "Venerable Yuquan Hao addressed the assembly: 'In the severe cold of midwinter, my cloth breeches are bright red. It is not that I do not wash them, but that I have none to change into.'" Taking it up, [the Master] said: "Cloth-Breeches Hao, long poor and suddenly wealthy, opened up a world within the eye of a midge, came out to the crossroads, and shouted loudly: 'The land is vast and people are few; those who meet are scarce.' If you understand, accept it with a smile; otherwise, tomorrow night I will ask the head monk to appraise it for you all."
