9.93

上堂，舉：「芭蕉和尚示眾云：『爾有主丈子，我與爾主丈子，爾無主丈子，我奪爾主丈子。』真淨和尚云：『爾有主丈子，我奪爾主丈子；爾無主丈子，我與爾主丈子。』」師拈云：「請各放下者主丈子，且道，三轉語還有優劣也無？」擊拂子。

Ascending the hall, [the Master] brought up: "Venerable Bajiao addressed the assembly, saying: 'If you have a staff, I give you a staff; if you have no staff, I snatch your staff away.' Venerable Zhenjing said: 'If you have a staff, I snatch your staff away; if you have no staff, I give you a staff.'" The Master took this up and said: "Please put down this staff each of you. Tell me, among the three turning words, is there any superiority or inferiority?" He struck with his whisk.
