天池長老至上堂云。虛心能作。白雲起石柱源頭。有應不乖。明月印天池水面。因緣事偶。感應道交。有時孤峯頂上盤結草菴。呵佛罵祖去。有時下妙高頂來。別峯相見去。諸人還體悉得麼。不居正位要旁來。祇箇真金經百煉。

When Elder Tianchi arrived, ascending the hall, he said: "An empty mind can act: white clouds arise from the source of the Stone Pillar. Having a response does not conflict: the bright moon is imprinted on the water's surface of the Heavenly Pool. Causes and conditions coincide; response and resonance mutually interact. At times, on the solitary peak's summit, tying grass into a hut, reproaching the buddhas and scolding the patriarchs; at times, coming down from the wondrous, loftiest summit to meet on another peak. Do all of you thoroughly comprehend? Not abiding in the upright position, one must come from the bias; only this is true gold refined a hundred times."
