上堂云。空劫有真宗。聲前問己躬。赤窮新活計。清白舊家風。的的三椉外。寥寥一印中。却來行異類。萬派自朝東。

Ascending the hall, [the Master] said: "In the kalpa of emptiness there is a true lineage; / Before sound, inquire into your own person. / Utterly impoverished, a new livelihood; / Pure and spotless, the old family style. / Clearly outside the three vehicles; / Solitary within the single seal. / Yet coming back to walk among different species, / The ten thousand streams naturally face east."
