1.59

上堂舉僧問清平。如何是大椉。平云井索。僧云。如何是小椉。平云錢貫。僧云。如何是有漏。平云單籬。僧云。如何是無漏。平云木杓。師云。貧便貧如范丹。拙便拙於盤特。要且不可移動。不可商量。無爾鬪釘處。所以道差之毫釐。過犯山嶽。且道畢竟作麼生。不見道斗滿秤槌住。

Ascending the hall, [the Master] cited: A monk asked Qingping, "What is the Great Vehicle?"
Qingping said, "A well rope."
The monk said, "What is the Lesser Vehicle?"
Qingping said, "A string of cash."
The monk said, "What is with outflows?"
Qingping said, "A single hedge."
The monk said, "What is without outflows?"
Qingping said, "A wooden ladle."
The Master said, "Poor as Fan Dan in poverty, clumsy as Panthaka in clumsiness, yet ultimately they cannot be moved, cannot be deliberated. There is no place for you to drive a nail. Therefore it is said: 'An error of a hair's breadth is a transgression as immense as mountains.' And tell me, what about it in the end? Do you not see it said: 'The peck being full, the steelyard weight stops'?"
