1.67

歲旦上堂云。木雞報曉。石女歌春。物物咸新。人人受歲。野老門下。却不受賀。既不受賀。祇如尊賓父子。如何得血脈不斷去。金針玉線。如何得相續去。還體悉得麼。良久云。轉盻雪消峯頂白。舉頭春入燒痕青。

Ascending the hall on New Year's Day, [the Master] said, "The wooden rooster announces the dawn; the stone maiden sings of spring. Each and every thing is entirely new; each and every person receives the new year. Yet beneath the old country fellow's gate, no congratulations are received. Since no congratulations are received, just as with host and guest, father and son, how can the bloodline remain unbroken? With golden needle and jade thread, how can there be continuity? Do you comprehend it?" After a pause, he said, "Turn your gaze: snow melts and the mountain peak is white; lift your head: spring enters and the burnt traces are green."
