1.68

再入院上堂云。脫去還如鳥出籠。水雲將與舊來同。依俙似曲纔堪聽。又被風吹別調中。復云。來無所從。去無所至。恁麼行履。十方著爾不得。三界轉爾不得。畢竟落在甚麼處。還相委悉麼。窣堵波前古寺基。家風清澹還如故。

Ascending the hall upon re-entering the monastery, [the Master] said, "Escaping is just like a bird leaving its cage; the waters and clouds are about to be the same as before. Faintly like a melody barely fit to hear, it is blown again by the wind into a different tune."
He further said, "Coming from nowhere, going nowhere. Moving like this, the ten directions cannot contain you, and the three realms cannot turn you. Ultimately, where does one land? Do you understand? Before the stūpa, the ancient monastery foundation; the family style, clear and pure, remains just as of old."
