Ascending the hall, [the Master] said, "Before there are traces of blue and white, how could it involve detachment and subtlety? Sitting through and cutting off the heads of the reward and transformation buddhas, one does not see the phases of formation, abiding, and destruction. Therefore it is said: only when one lays down the entire body can one begin to bear it. What is the matter of bearing it?" After a pause, he said, "Across the ten continents spring has ended and flowers wither away; in the forest of coral trees, the sun is brilliantly bright."
