舉溈山問道吾。甚麼處來。吾云。看病來。山云。有幾人病。吾云。有病者不病者。山云。不病者莫是智頭陀麼。吾云。病與不病。總不干他事。速道速道。山云。道得也與他沒交涉。頌曰。

Guishan asked Daowu: "Where have you come from?"
Daowu said: "I have come from visiting the sick."
Guishan said: "How many people are sick?"
Daowu said: "There are those who are sick and those who are not sick."
Guishan said: "Is the one who is not sick Zhi the dhūta?"
Daowu said: "Sick or not sick, none of it concerns him at all. Speak quickly, speak quickly!"
Guishan said: "Even if one can speak, it is completely irrelevant to him."
An ode says:
