舉德山圓明大師示眾云。及盡去也。直得三世諸佛。口掛壁上。猶有一人呵呵大笑。若識此人。參學事畢。頌曰。
Great Master Yuanming of Deshan instructed the assembly, saying, "When you have exhausted everything, even if the Buddhas of the three periods have their mouths hung on the wall, there is still one person laughing heartily: 'Ha, ha!' If you recognize this person, your task of study is complete." The ode says:
