3.79

舉僧問玄沙。如何是無縫塔。沙云。這一縫大小。師云見成公案。爾若道據欵結案。我知爾未識玄沙。若有人問長蘆。祇向道。四稜榻地。且道。識玄沙不識玄沙。具眼者辨看。

[The Master] cited: A monk asked Xuansha, "What is the seamless stūpa?" Xuansha said, "How large is this seam?" The Master said, "A ready-made public case! If you say that the case is closed on the basis of a confession, I know you have not yet recognized Xuansha. If someone were to ask Changlu, I would only say to him, 'The four ridges lie flat on the ground.' Tell me, does this recognize Xuansha or not recognize Xuansha? Those with eyes, examine and discern!"
