3.80

舉古德垂語云。終日拈香擇火。不知身是道場。師云。弄精魂漢。有什麼限。玄沙云。終日拈香擇火。不知真箇道場。師云。奇怪八十翁翁出場屋。不是小兒戲。且道。利害在什麼處。有智無智。較三十里。

[The Master] cited: An ancient worthy uttered the phrase, "All day long pinching incense and selecting fire, yet unaware that one's body is the bodhimaṇḍa." The Master said, "A fellow manipulating ghosts—what limit is there to him?" Xuansha said, "All day long pinching incense and selecting fire, yet unaware of the genuine bodhimaṇḍa." The Master said, "Remarkable! An eighty-year-old grandfather entering the examination hall—this is no child's play. Tell me, where does the advantage and disadvantage lie? Having wisdom and lacking wisdom differ by thirty miles."
