上堂閑若雲。虛若谷。善應無方。東西南北。局中生殺路纔迷。爛却斧柯歸不得。若是箇漢。時行即行。時止即止。去也恁麼去。去無所去。來也恁麼來。來無所來。諸人還體悉得麼。高提黑白前前著。贏盡縱橫十字機。

[Hongzhi] ascended the hall: "As leisurely as clouds, as empty as valleys. Responding skillfully without fixed direction: east, west, south, north. In the midst of the game, life and death—just as the path is lost, the axe handle rots away and one cannot return. If you are such a person: when it is time to go, then go; when it is time to stop, then stop. Going is just going like this, going nowhere to go; coming is just coming like this, coming nowhere to come. Do you understand? Raising high the black and white [stones], moves made beforehand, / Winning completely the mechanism of intersecting lines in all directions."
