4.130

上堂舉。廓侍者問德山。從上諸聖向甚麼處去也。山云。作麼作麼。廓云。勅點飛龍馬。跛鼈出頭來。山便休。來日浴出。廓過荼與德山。山撫廓背一下。廓云。這老漢今日方始瞥地。山又休。師云。在家尊貴。不受一點塵埃驀路相逢。別是一般光彩。德山廓侍者。皆是十成了事底人。為什麼被天童撿點。還相委悉麼。衲僧奪得連城壁。秦主相如懡㦬歸。

[Hongzhi] ascended the hall and brought up: "Attendant Kuo asked Deshan, 'Where have all the sages from of old gone?' Deshan said, 'What? What?' Kuo said, 'The order was given to single out the flying dragon horse, but a lame turtle comes forth.' Deshan then stopped. The next day, coming out of the bath, Kuo offered tea to Deshan. Deshan gave Kuo's back a pat. Kuo said, 'Only today has this old fellow caught a glimpse.' Deshan stopped again." The Master said, "Noble at home, not accepting a single speck of dust; meeting unexpectedly on the road, it is a different kind of brilliance. Deshan and Attendant Kuo were both people who had ten-tenths accomplished the affair. Why were they checked by Tiantong? Do you understand? The patch-robed monk snatches away the jade disk worth several cities; / The King of Qin and Xiangru return in embarrassment."
