Ascending the hall: The essence is spiritual and naturally empty—the dim green mountains are lean in autumn. The function is surging and unobstructed—the drifting white clouds are leisurely in the day. The states of movement and stillness are as such; the traces of departing and staying are sovereign. Therefore it is said: 'Going and coming do not take forms, hence there is no vessel in which they do not take shape; movement and stillness do not rely on mind, hence there is no resonance to which they do not respond.' Do you all embody and understand it? Upright and biased have never left their fundamental position; / How could the unborn involve verbal causes and conditions?
