薦福專使馳書。上堂。一枝秀出栴檀林。想見馨香慰眾心。不負老兄開鑿力。當風子和鶴鳴陰。復舉阿難問迦葉。世尊傳金襴。外別傳何物。迦葉召阿難。難應諾。葉云。倒却門前剎竿著。師云。影略門前倒剎竿。箇中消息授傳難。玲瓏侍者能相委。盤走明珠珠走盤。

Ascending the hall when a special emissary from Jianfu delivered a letter: A single branch stands out from the sandalwood grove; / Imagining its fragrance brings comfort to the hearts of the assembly. / Not failing the elder brother's labor in quarrying and opening the way, / Facing the wind, the young responds to the crane calling from the shade. / He further cited: Ānanda asked Kāśyapa, "Aside from transmitting the golden robe, what other thing did the World-Honoured One transmit?" Kāśyapa called, "Ānanda!" Ānanda answered, "Yes!" Kāśyapa said, "Fell the banner pole in front of the gate." The Master said: Hinting vaguely before the gate, knocking down the banner pole; / The message therein is difficult to confer and transmit. / Only an exquisite attendant can comprehend it: / The tray rolls the bright pearl, and the pearl rolls the tray.
